The Salem which trials that you briefly went over in school were much more crazy and bizarre that we knew. In this book we get accounts from various people involved. This story just seems too crazy to be true. But in wrapping up the histories one paragraph ” it seems likely that several of these theories are correct: perhaps all of the disease, superstition, paranoia, hysteria, past resentments, cowardice, religious fervor, greed and even boredom boiled up and bubbled together to foment a perfect storm in 1692 that finally exploded in a little town of Salem village, to horrendous and tragic effect.”
Sounds interesting! Have you read/seen The Crucible by Arthur Miller – he uses the Salem witch trials as an allegory of 1950s McCarthyism
